About the role
We are looking for a Risk Technologist – Food – Marketplace to join our Quality team supporting our Marketplace growth ambitions in the food area.

You will work closely with our Marketplace supplier onboarding team to ensure sellers are fully vetted and any product listings are safe, legal and compliant and provide support to our post market team if issues arrive after seller launch. 

The ideal candidate will have a background in food and drink legislation to place product on the market. They will be responsible for ensuring that the products sold on our marketplace comply with relevant laws and regulations related to quality, safety, environment and legality.

You will be responsible for
  • Ensure that all food products sold on our marketplace comply with relevant legislation and policies related to safety, quality and the environment.
  • Collect and verify information from third-party sellers who want to join our marketplace platform.
  • Risk assess products and ensure the appropriate checks and due diligence are in place for food and drink (including beers, wines and spirits, vitamins & supplements).
  • Manage seller on-boarding checks and product induction, ensuring that sellers meet the technical and legal requirements to sell on our platform.
  • Support teams to ensure relevant Tesco policies are met, such as product safety, sustainability, and ethical sourcing.
  • Provide ongoing support and knowledge to marketplace team and seller base.
  • Use tools to ensure quality of new product listings, checking that they have accurate and complete information, images, and descriptions.

You will need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of Food and drink UK and EU laws and regulations related to supplier and retail quality, safety, and legality.
  • Relevant knowledge/experience of delivering safe, legal and responsibly sourced, great quality products to our customers. 
  • Experience in Product technical compliance, quality assurance, or risk management.
  • Desirable Knowledge of e-commerce, marketplace, or retail industry.
  • Familiarity with Tesco's policies and standards, or ability to learn quickly.
  • Understanding of retail and customer needs.
  • Understanding and application of risk and risk assessment.
