Job Description

The Risk Manager plays a critical role in reducing organizational risk exposure and supporting compliance with industry standards. This position provides risk control and loss prevention assessments, develops actionable recommendations, and collaborates with members to implement effective safety strategies. The role requires routine travel, including overnight stays, and occasional after-hours or weekend work to meet member and program needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Risk Assessments & Recommendations

  • Schedule and conduct member service assessment visits, providing detailed recommendations.
  • Perform property and liability safety reviews and follow-up consultations.

Training & Presentations

  • Deliver presentations at member events and program meetings.
  • Coordinate and lead member and regional training sessions.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Compile and write reports based on assessments or departmental requests.
  • Conduct annual and ongoing loss analysis for assigned accounts to identify trends.

Collaboration & Support

  • Consult with members on operational questions and provide technical assistance.
  • Coordinate inspections by external entities as needed.
  • Work closely with Program Directors and other departments to identify and address loss control trends.

Other Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor loss improvement plans for designated members.
  • Maintain membership and participate in relevant state-wide organizations.
  • Attend meetings and conferences as required.
  • Complete other job-related projects or assignments as directed.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present to small and large groups.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; Power BI and SQL preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative, professional attitude.
  • Creative thinker with organizational skills and adaptability in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

Required

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to obtain Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation within three years of hire.
  • Experience analyzing risk and developing actionable plans.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals and groups and manage varied data types.
  • Professional appearance and adherence to company dress code.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Safety, or related field.
  • Experience in safety, insurance, or risk management industries.
  • Property and Casualty license within 12 months of hire.

Physical Requirements on a Regular Basis:

Manual dexterity, arm, and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard, mouse and telephone on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day.

Speech and hearing are sufficient for in-person and telephone communication on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day.

Vision sufficient for use of a computer monitor.

Ability to sit at a desk on a constant basis for at least 7-10 hours per day.

Ability to climb stairs on a regular basis, as well climb a ladder as needed.

Annual Salary Range: $81,500 - $95,000

Pay Range

81500.00 - 95000.00 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
