Job Description

Risk Manager (Programme Risk)

Location: Warrington, Manchester or Derby

Salary: £63,600.00 - £83,500.00 depending on experience

Our mission is to deliver clean, affordable energy for all. Our Small Modular Reactor (SMR) provides a British solution to a global energy challenge. We are uniquely positioned to become a global leader in SMRs and deliver one of the UK's most exciting clean energy programmes.

The Programme Management Office (PMO) plays a critical role in turning ambition into delivery. Working across major programmes and business functions, the team provides the governance, insight and controls that help drive informed decision-making, manage uncertainty and support successful programme outcomes.

In this context, we are looking for a Risk Manager to join our PMO team, reporting to the Senior Risk Manager. Leading and supporting a network of risk professionals across the programme, this is a high-profile opportunity to shape how risk management is embedded, measured and continuously improved across a nationally significant infrastructure programme.

What you'll be doing

  • Driving the development, maintenance and assurance of programme and work package risk registers.
  • Facilitating risk reviews, workshops and health checks to identify, assess and manage risk effectively.
  • Providing expert risk management guidance, reporting and analysis to stakeholders across the business.
  • Supporting Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) activities and helping advance innovative approaches, including the adoption of AI in risk management and analytics.

As you can see, this is a pivotal role within our organisation. You'll bring a collaborative mindset, sound judgement, and the ability to influence and engage stakeholders across a complex programme environment.

What we're looking for

  • A recognised risk, project management or related professional qualification, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Experience applying recognised risk management methodologies and frameworks, such as ISO 31000 or equivalent best practice approaches.
  • Experience supporting risk management activities within major infrastructure, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or complex programme environments.
  • Strong knowledge of risk reporting, quantitative risk analysis, governance, and stakeholder engagement.

Location

We offer flexible and hybrid working arrangements. You'll be expected to regularly attend one of our office locations, including Warrington, Manchester or Derby, in line with programme and stakeholder requirements.

What's in it for you?

  • A base salary between £63,600.00 - £83,500.00
  • Cash benefits allowance of £2,200
  • Annual bonus opportunity of up to 12.5%
  • 29 days' annual leave plus public holidays
  • 6% employee to 12% employer pension contributions
  • Private Medical Insurance – BUPA single cover
  • Life Assurance – 6× pensionable pay
  • Home Office Support – £250 one‑off payment for new starters.
  • The opportunity to grow your career in a rapidly expanding organisation that is shaping the future of clean energy

Pay Range:

£60,000.00

£78,750.00
