Risk Management and Compliance Intern

The Global Risk Management & Compliance department based at the company’s headquarters in Naples, FL is responsible for Arthrex’s global compliance with a variety of healthcare-specific and non-healthcare-specific legal & compliance risks. We are looking for a law student to support the Global Compliance Investigations team. The successful candidate will contribute to a variety of Compliance team initiatives including records review to identify risks, research around various legal questions, and assist with different projects that arise. The individual will be supervised by attorneys on the Global Compliance Investigations team but will interact with and work with the full Risk Management and Compliance department that includes highly specialized compliance professionals.  Join our talented team at a global medical device company focused on Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™.

This internship will run from May 2027 – August 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To learn the elements of an effective compliance program, as well as the compliance risks related to the medical device industry. Gain exposure to career opportunities in compliance while supporting the department in all aspects of its compliance program, including program management, policy development, training, communications, investigations, monitoring and auditing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research, including analysis of regulatory requirements, statutes, and case law.
  • Perform document reviews in support of internal investigations, compliance matters, and agency audits or reviews.
  • Assist with third-party compliance activities, including reviewing due diligence reports and assessing potential risks.
  • Support compliance audits through document collection, review, and analysis.
  • Assist in drafting policies, procedures, training materials, compliance communications, and legal memoranda.
  • Track regulatory and enforcement developments and draft educational articles, summaries, and updates for departmental awareness and training purposes.

Education and Experience:

  • Progress towards a Juris Doctorate degree required. Current second-year law students (2L) required. (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
  • Law review or other legal journal experience is preferred.
  • Experience or a strong interest in healthcare compliance is preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Be able to follow written and verbal direction.
  • Ability to conduct research.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook; PowerPoint; Word and Excel; Scanner.
