Wharton-Smith, Inc., a highly regarded General Contractor throughout the Southeast, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Risk Coordinator to work out of our corporate office, located in Sanford, FL. Risk Coordinator is responsible for handling claims, maintaining forms and records of incidents, and coordinating Certificate of Insurance review and collection processes.
Primary responsibilities:
• Manage vendor insurance compliance by reviewing documentation, monitoring reports, and ensuring adherence to company and project requirements
• Communicate insurance compliance status clearly to vendors and internal project teams
• Resolve noncompliance issues in a timely manner through proactive follow-up and coordination
• Serve as a subject matter expert on vendor insurance requirements, processes, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders
• Process insurance claims in coordination with carriers, ensuring timely handling and resolution
• Provide regular updates on claim status to executives, adjusters, and project teams
• Track and report on claims activity using designated systems and platforms
• Partner with department leadership to assess risk exposure and evaluate insurance exceptions
• Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and ensure accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Prepare and distribute site-specific safety documentation and materials as needed
• Coordinate and set up project-specific medical facilities and clinics
• Compile and manage site-specific safety manuals to support project operations
Technical skills:
• Proficiency with standard office technology including laptops, smartphones, scanners, and photocopiers
• Ability to utilize insurance, risk management, or claims platforms to review, track, and report data
• Strong documentation and recordkeeping capabilities, including maintaining accurate compliance and OSHA-related records
• Ability to interpret and manage reports related to insurance, claims, and risk exposure
• Basic data management and administrative tracking skills
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Zero (0) to two plus (2+) years of experience in insurance, risk management, loss control, or claims processing preferred
• Strong professional communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, professional office environment while managing multiple priorities
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills
• Ability to perform essential job functions including sitting, typing, and communicating for extended periods
• Capability to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds
• Full-time availability, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to job sites and offices throughout the southeastern United States
