Job description

As a Risk, Control & Compliance Executive/Manager, you will play a key role in protecting the organization's people, assets, and reputation. Working closely with business leaders, you will oversee risk and compliance initiatives, support safety and security programs, identify improvement opportunities, and help drive a culture of governance and operational excellence.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Identify operational risks, process gaps, safety hazards, and compliance issues, and recommend preventive and corrective actions.
  • Conduct risk assessments across various business functions and develop mitigation plans to minimize operational, financial, and reputational risks.
  • Develop, implement, review, and maintain risk management frameworks, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Monitor compliance performance and prepare regular compliance and risk reports for management review.
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis for incidents, accidents, compliance breaches, and operational losses.

Safety & Security Management:

  • Ensure safety and security programs, systems, and procedures comply with legal requirements and company standards.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of emergency response, crowd management, traffic management, and business continuity plans.
  • Participate in store, facility, or project design and build-up phases to ensure compliance with safety and security requirements.
  • Coordinate emergency response activities and collaborate with management teams during incidents and crisis situations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with relevant regulatory authorities, emergency services, and external security providers.

Audit & Governance:

  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, inspections, and reviews.
  • Ensure positive audit outcomes and timely closure of audit findings and corrective actions.
  • Maintain compliance documentation, records, reports, and evidence required by regulators, auditors, and internal governance processes.
  • Conduct compliance monitoring activities and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Training & Awareness:

  • Develop and deliver training programs on risk management, compliance, ethics, safety, security, anti-corruption, and company policies.
  • Promote a strong risk-aware and compliance culture throughout the organization.
  • Educate employees and external service providers on legal, regulatory, and company compliance requirements.
  • Maintain training records and compliance certifications where required.

Investigation & Loss Prevention:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for suspected fraud, misconduct, unethical behavior, or non-compliance matters.
  • Conduct or support investigations in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation.
  • Identify areas vulnerable to fraud, shrinkage, or operational losses and implement effective controls.
  • Partner with business units to improve inventory accuracy and reduce loss exposure.
  • Coordinate insurance claims processes and liaise with insurance providers, brokers, and relevant stakeholders.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Management:

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and outsourced service providers.
  • Keep management informed of regulatory updates, emerging risks, and compliance trends that may impact business operations.
  • Support sustainability, ethical business practices, and corporate governance initiatives.

Could this be you?

You may be the right fit if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Bring over 10 years of experience in Risk, Compliance, Safety, Security, or related functions, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, ideally within a retail or customer-focused environment.
  • Lead with integrity and inspire others through coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams while role-modelling IKEA values.
  • Have a strong track record in risk management, governance, compliance, and internal controls, ensuring our business operates responsibly and ethically.
  • Are confident in conducting investigations involving fraud, misconduct, and ethical concerns, making fair and fact-based decisions.
  • Have hands-on experience in safety and security management, emergency preparedness, crisis management, business continuity, and fire safety systems.
  • Can turn data into insights, identify risks and trends, and proactively implement preventive actions that make a real business impact.
  • Build trusted partnerships across the organization and influence stakeholders through clear communication, collaboration, and strong business acumen.
  • Understand how risk, compliance, and safety contribute to business performance, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
  • Are comfortable working with legal, regulatory, and technical requirements while balancing business needs and coworker wellbeing.
