Job Description

Kolomoni Microfinance Bank (Gambia) Limited is a CBG-licensed microfinance institution serving customers across The Gambia through a growing branch network. We are recruiting a Risk & Compliance Officer to strengthen our Business Risk & Internal Control function. THE ROLE You will protect the Bank's regulatory standing — monitoring transactions for suspicious activity, screening against sanctions lists, checking that customers are properly onboarded, reviewing loan files, and preparing the returns that go to the Central Bank of The Gambia and the Financial Intelligence Unit. You will report to the Head, Risk & Compliance. WHAT YOU WILL DO Monitor transactions for suspicious or irregular activity and investigate flagged cases promptly. Screen customers against sanctions and watch lists at onboarding and on an ongoing basis. Review account opening documentation and confirm KYC completeness through the life of the relationship. Prepare and submit CBG statutory returns, AML/CFT returns, credit bureau reports and FIU returns within required timelines. Review loan files daily, track expired facilities, and monitor compliance with the single obligor limit. Conduct risk and control reviews, document findings, and track corrective action to closure. Act as day-to-day liaison with the assigned CBG regulatory officer and escalate compliance issues without delay. Requirements 3–5 years in risk, compliance or audit, preferably in microfinance or banking in The Gambia. Sound knowledge of CBG regulatory requirements and FIU reporting obligations. Practical experience of AML/CFT frameworks, sanctions screening and statutory returns. A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, law, risk management or a related field. ICA or CAMS certification is an advantage. Proficiency in MS Excel and core banking or compliance systems. The independence to escalate what needs escalating, and the discretion to handle what you see.
