Job Title: Senior Manager – Risk and Control Enablement, Technology Chief Control Office
Location: Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore

Business & Team:

The Technology Chief Controls Office (CCO) team is a Line 1 risk team responsible for supporting CBA in continuing to mature its risk culture and establish and maintain strong risk practices.

Technology CCO is responsible for providing end-to-end risk advice and guidance. We support our delivery teams across CommBank in their development and operation of solutions ranging across innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business.

Impact & Contribution:

The Senior Manager, Risk and Control Enablement is part of the Technology CCO team that supports the Chief AI Office (CAIO) providing specialist risk advice. CAIO is the risk steward for AI risk for the bank. CAIO owns and operates foundational AI platforms and capabilities for the Group.

This role ensures new and changing strategic initiatives are risk assessed with proper controls. It involves identifying and assessing key risks in technology, cybersecurity, data, AI, and privacy, and validating control implementations.

Additionally, the role advises on AI strategy implementation, delivery, and responsible AI practices. It collaborates with stakeholders in AI projects, delivery owners, and the business to enhance risk management and strengthen risk culture.

This role is required to act with independence and must have the ability to influence stakeholders by actively building and maintaining valuable relationships with:

  • Chief Data & AI Office

  • Cloud, Cyber and Technology SMEs

  • Architects, Engineers and Platform Owners

  • Line 2 Technology Risk & Compliance teams

  • Relevant Cloud, Technology, Data and Cyber related programs

The Technology Chief Controls Office collaborates with business and technology leaders, including Engineers, Product Owners, Control Leads, Crew and Crew Tech Leads, SREs and Cyber to identify and manage technology and operational risks effectively.

You’ll play a senior leadership role within a high-performing team accountable for strengthening, embedding, and continuously improving the risk and control environment across Technology. You will operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping how risk and controls are embedded into modern engineering, platform, and AI-enabled environments, while contributing to broader organisational strategy and uplift

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour, actions and decisions we expect from our people.

  • Oversee and support the business on the design and implementation of controls to enable better risk and compliance outcomes, providing guidance and advice to senior leaders on their application.

  • Lead and coach extended team members to conduct technology risk assessments, advise on delivery risk and delivered risk including impact assessments, advise on the effective design of technology control specifications, and validate the effective design of the technology controls implemented.

  • Lead and build a proactive risk and control culture.

  • Partner with the business to deliver pragmatic insights that enable risk based and informed decision making and provide assurance over controls.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 12+ years’ experience in risk and/or control advisory in banking/financial services/professional services or other relevant sectors.

  • Strong soft skills, including a growth mindset, stakeholder management, critical thinking, ability to provide constructive feedback and to synthesize information in an environment of white noise and heavy information flow.

  • Experience in Cloud, Technology, Cyber and/or AI/data science practitioner roles is preferred.

  • Experience with project change and implementation risk advisory.

  • CISM, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, COBIT, ITIL, CISSP or other IT risk related certifications (e.g., ISO200x, PCI/DSS) holder is favorable.

  • Familiarity with APRA standards is favorable.

Education qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data, Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISM, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, COBIT, ITIL, CISSP or other IT.
