About the role and team

Uber Taiwan (Uber Formosa Co. Limited and Uber Portier Taiwan Co. Limited) sits within the Uber Group in APAC and provides payments services to Uber and Uber’s customers locally. Uber Taiwan utilises services provided by various entities both internal and external to the group.

As a Third-Party Payment Service Provider (“TPPSP”) based in Taiwan, Uber Taiwan is subject to the Money Laundering Control Act (洗錢防制法) and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act (資恐防制法) and the underlying regulations, such as the Regulation Governing Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing for Third-Party Payment Service Providers (collectively as “AML/CTF Regulations”). Uber Taiwan plays an important role in the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing (“AML/CTF”) through its stringent Compliance Program mended by the 1st, 2nd and 3rd line of defences.

Uber Taiwan is looking for detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Specialist join our Transaction Monitoring (TM) and Sanctions Screening (SS) team. The team is a part of our Uber Taiwan Payments processing and provides support to allow Uber to adhere to Anti Money Laundering/Counter Financing Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulations for all partners in Taiwan. In this role, you will perform reviews on the TM and SS processes on Uber’s partners to verify their identity and payment profiles.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver end to end TM and SS activities relating to Taiwan customers.
  • Review documentation and case as a whole using Uber tools and external sources,
  • Review information related to Partner’s identity, payment details, and other relevant information to on profile and to complete.
  • Resolve escalations by liaising with Uber stakeholders and completing enhanced processing of Partners based on additional input.
  • Support Partner's remediation process in collaboration with internal stakeholders, provide necessary insights and monitor progress.
  • Identify processes and tools improvement opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months of experience in one of the following: compliance, banking, insurance, fraud, consulting, or a regulated area
  • Experience with Google Suite/Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills..
  • Proven ability in presentation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional partnership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in an AML/CFT role(s) is an asset but not a requirement.
  • Strong verbal and written English and Mandarin skills.
  • Experience in handling documentation.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to understand, assess and improve complex processes.
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to spot missing data from a mile away.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in the compliance domain.
