About the role:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Driver for Rising Academies in Sierra Leone. The Rising Academies SL Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of staff, visitors, and materials as required. You will play a key role in supporting the operational efficiency of our programs by providing dependable driving services and vehicle maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Safely transport staff, partners, and visitors to official meetings, school visits, and field locations.
    • Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving at all times.
    • Plan and follow efficient routes to ensure timely arrival at all destinations.
    • Maintain a professional, respectful, and courteous attitude with all passengers.
    • Conduct daily vehicle checks, including fuel, oil, tyres, brakes, and battery condition.
    • Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and in good working condition.
    • Identify and promptly report mechanical faults or safety concerns.
    • Support the coordination of vehicle servicing, repairs, and routine maintenance.
    • Maintain accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle activity.
    • Assist with transporting program materials, equipment, or other operational items when required.

Location and Reporting:

This is a full-time position. The Driver will report to the Operations Lead and will be based in the Rising Academies Office, Freetown, Sierra Leone, but is expected to travel frequently to (Tonkolili, Karene, Kenema, Falaba)

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience working as a professional driver.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Ability to read and write clearly in English.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with local road networks and routes.
  • Strong punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
  • Experience supporting field programs or operational teams.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and attention to safety.
  • Experience with safeguarding children and upholding international safeguarding standards.

  • You have good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • You have the flexibility to work outside regular hours if needed.
  • You have the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
  • You have a strong work ethic and positive attitude towards responsibilities.
