As a Right of Way Maintenance Trades Worker with Sarasota County, you’ll play an important role in maintaining the infrastructure our community relies on every day. From asphalt and concrete repairs to bridge and guardrail work, tree trimming, and operating specialized equipment, you’ll tackle a variety of projects that make a visible difference across Sarasota County. Maintain and repair County bridges, including concrete repairs, joint seal replacement, pressure washing, painting, and vegetation removal to support safe vehicle and pedestrian travel
Assist with the installation and repair of sidewalks, curb and gutter, driveways, handicap ramps, asphalt surfaces, potholes, and roadway repairs in accordance with DOT specifications
Clear and maintain roadways and rights-of-way by removing debris and hazards, trimming vegetation, and assisting with re-grading of County roadways
Operate and maintain dump trucks, backhoes, excavators, skid loaders, front-end loaders, chainsaws, and other tools and equipment used for roadway and infrastructure maintenance
Complete and submit work orders documenting assigned maintenance, repairs, and other work performed in a timely and professional manner
Work Hours:
Monday - Friday
6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
*On-Call Required

Physical Demands: Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Subject to Passing Substance Screening This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years
Starting Pay: $18.21 (Step 1); Potential higher pay (steps) for those with multiple years of experience
