Job Description


The Rigging Supervisor leads a team of riggers to design, create, and maintain high-quality rigs for characters, creatures, props, or mechanical systems used in animation or live productions. They ensure rigs meet technical and artistic requirements, enabling smooth animation workflows while adhering to project deadlines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of riggers, providing guidance on workflows, tools, and best practices.
  • Rig Development: Oversee the creation of complex skeletal structures, control systems, and deformers for 3D characters or objects.
  • Technical Oversight: Ensure rigs are optimized for performance, compatibility, and ease of use by animators.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with animation, modeling, and pipeline teams to align rigging with project goals and technical requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot rigging issues, ensuring rigs function across various platforms (e.g., Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine).
  • Pipeline Integration: Develop and maintain rigging pipelines, tools, and scripts to streamline production processes.
  • Quality Control: Review and approve rigs to ensure they meet artistic and technical standards.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for rigging workflows, tools, and processes.
  • Innovation: Stay updated on industry trends and tools (e.g., Autodesk Maya, Houdini, Python scripting) to enhance rigging efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum 30 years of age and physically fit (certified medically fit by a Qatar-registered practitioner).
  • Minimum Secondary Education.
  • At least 8 years of rigging experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong administrative and supervisory skills to schedule, monitor, and control lifting operations.
  • Must be capable of reading, speaking, writing, and understanding English.
  • Successfully completed QP Approved Training (5 days initial, 3 days refresher).
  • Hold a valid ID card issued by a QP Approved Training Service Provider.
