The Rigger is responsible for
the safe lifting, moving, and positioning of heavy equipment and materials
during offshore shutdowns, ensuring compliance with strict safety standards in
hazardous environments.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Lifting & Rigging Operations:
o
Perform load calculations and
select appropriate slings, shackles, and lifting gear for
cranes, winches, and hoists.
o
Rig and move pipes, valves, vessels,
and structural modules (up to 100+ tons).
o
Assist crane operators with blind
lifts and complex load positioning.
2.
Shutdown Support:
o
Work with scaffolders, welders, and
mechanical teams to position equipment for maintenance.
o
Assist in load-outs for
supply vessels and platform module installations.
3.
Hazard Awareness:
o
Identify overhead hazards, swing
radius risks, and pinch points.
o
Follow PTW (Permit to Work) and LOTO
(Lockout-Tagout) procedures.
4.
Documentation:
o
Maintain rigging gear inspection logs and
report defects.

Education: High school diploma + rigging
certification.
·
Certifications
(Mandatory):
o
OPITO Rigging & Lifting Level 2/3 or NORS Rigger Certification.
o
BOSIET/HUET (Offshore Survival), H2S/BA,
T-BOSIET.
o
Bankman/Slinger Signaler certification (preferred).
·
Experience:
o
5+ years in offshore/oil & gas
rigging, with 3+ years in shutdown projects.
o
Familiarity with QP, Shell, or
TotalEnergies lifting protocols.
·
Skills:
o
Proficient in load charts, rigging
configurations, and crane signals.
o
Ability to work in confined spaces and
at heights.
