Job Description

This RF Technician Helper will support wireless Small Cell and ODAS deployments throughout the Richmond region for major wireless carriers. Working as part of a 2-4 person crew under the direction of Lead Technicians, this individual will assist with the installation, alignment, and testing of wireless infrastructure equipment on rooftop, tower, and Small Cell projects.

This is a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity with potential career growth into areas such as Tower, Embedded Integration, ODAS, and IDAS.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the installation, mounting, and testing of Remote Radio Heads (RRHs), antennas, and related wireless equipment.
• Perform equipment alignment and verification using tools such as OTDRs, power meters, and spectrum analyzers.
• Support Small Cell, ODAS, rooftop, and tower deployment projects.
• Assist with system upgrades, 5G antenna installations, and field modifications.
• Participate in warehouse pre-build and staging activities for upcoming deployments.
• Work closely with Lead Technicians and other crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Interact professionally with customers and site contacts during project execution.
• Support various wireless infrastructure projects based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of telecommunications construction experience; ISP/OSP experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand tools.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Comfortable working at moderate heights and on rooftop environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with bucket trucks, boom lifts, or lift equipment.
• Experience supporting rooftop wireless installations.
• Ownership of basic hand tools.
• OSHA 10 certification.

Work Environment

• Monday through Friday schedule.
• Typical daytime hours, with start and end times varying based on project needs (commonly 6:00 AM-2:00 PM or 7:00 AM-3:00 PM).
• Outdoor work environment that may include exposure to inclement weather.
• Work performed in teams of 2-4 technicians.
• Combination of field deployments and warehouse staging activities.
• Opportunities to support multiple project types depending on workload and business demands.

Project Focus

Current projects primarily support large-scale 5G network expansion, Small Cell deployments, and wireless infrastructure upgrades. Most Small Cell work supports major wireless carrier networks and includes rooftop, tower, and street-level deployments throughout the region.

This is a Contract position based out of Henrico, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
