What you will do

As an RF Technical Support Engineer (m/f/d), you will play a key role in enabling advanced RF-compatible material solutions for some of the world's leading technology companies. Following a structured onboarding phase in Hamburg, you will relocate to Palo Alto, California, where you will support our Global Key Account Management team and serve as a trusted technical partner for strategic customer projects.


In this highly visible role, you will combine your expertise in RF engineering, electromagnetics, and materials science to translate complex technical challenges into innovative application solutions. Acting as the bridge between customer requirements and our global R&D organization, you will help shape next-generation technologies in consumer electronics and beyond.

Your tasks Include:

  • Provide technical expertise on RF-related behavior of adhesive, conductive, and functional material systems in customer applications.
  • Support the development and optimization of RF- and antenna-compatible solutions, including conductive layers, shielding concepts, and interference mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze electromagnetic interactions, signal integrity challenges, and material-related performance impacts in demanding application environments.
  • Serve as the technical interface for strategic global customers, providing expert consultation and application-oriented recommendations.
  • Support troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving activities throughout the customer development process.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Product Development, Application Engineering, and Global Key Account Management teams across Europe, Asia, and North America.
  • Facilitate the transfer of technical insights from laboratory research into scalable customer solutions.
  • Build and share internal expertise in RF-related technologies, contributing to knowledge transfer and capability development across the organization.
  • Represent tesa's technical competence in customer meetings, workshops, and cross-functional project discussions.

What you will need

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Communications Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • Solid knowledge of RF engineering, electromagnetics, antenna systems, signal propagation, EMC, shielding, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working with RF-related applications such as wireless communication systems, antennas, EMC testing, electronic devices, or material interactions.
  • Ability to connect scientific principles with practical engineering and customer application challenges.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across international and cross-functional teams.
  • Customer-oriented approach and confidence operating in dynamic, high-expectation project environments.
  • Fluency in English; German language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Openness and willingness to relocate to Palo Alto, California, after the onboarding phase in Hamburg.
