Job Description

At Altair Semiconductor, we develop advanced wireless and IoT solutions that connect millions of devices worldwide.

Our engineers own significant parts of each project, becoming true experts in their fields. You'll work directly with your team from initial concept through final delivery, seeing the real impact of your work.

We maintain a flat organization where ideas flow freely between engineers and leadership. Our experienced team members actively mentor newer colleagues, creating an environment where everyone can learn and grow.

We're proud that our employees choose to build long-term careers with us. Many of our team members have been with the company for years, contributing to a stable, knowledgeable workplace where collaboration comes naturally.

We understand the importance of work-life balance and want to make it easy for you to have time for everything you want to do.

What you will be doing

We're looking for an experienced RF System Engineer to join our cellular IoT team. You'll own system-level RF work across our RFIC transceivers, from definition and lab work through validation and debug. You'll work closely with the RFIC design, PHY, firmware and software teams. We expect you to work AI-first: you'll build and use AI agents to automate test work and to speed up firmware review and debug.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and run system level for RFIC and transceiver performance (EVM, ACLR, sensitivity, blocking, spurs, etc.)
  • Own RF system definition and requirements for cellular RFIC transceivers (TX/RX chains, link budget, impairments, calibrations)
  • Define and develop system flows, including system calibrations, AGC and the definition of new features
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for lab setups, measurements and data analysis
  • Build and use AI agents for:
  • test and lab automation
  • firmware review and debug (log analysis, root-cause investigation, code review)
  • Work closely with PHY/L1 teams on RF–baseband interaction and system-level performance
  • Lead technical investigations end to end, and drive issues to closure across teams

Requirements

  • B.Sc./M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in RF engineering
  • Strong background in transceiver architectures and RF system-level analysis
  • Frequent, practical use of AI tools, with hands-on experience defining and using AI agents in engineering workflows
  • Extensive lab experience with RF instruments (signal and spectrum analyzers, signal generators, network analyzers, cellular testers)
  • Proven experience writing scripts for automation and data analysis
  • Solid understanding of the Physical Layer (modulation, OFDM, channel coding, link performance)
  • Team player with excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to drive technical topics and lead others

Advantages

  • Experience with LTE and/or NB-IoT (LTE-M / Cat-M a plus)
  • Familiarity with 3GPP RF specifications and conformance testing
  • Experience with firmware/embedded debugging (logs, traces, JTAG)
  • Experience with RF calibration flows in production
