The ATE/SMX team are seeking an RF design engineer to work as part of our design team to help define and develop Mems Switch products meeting the challenges of the rapidly growing automatic test equipment and instrumentation markets.

The successful candidate will be working on cutting edge new products utilizing ADI Mems switch disruptive technology to deliver next generation performance to applications spanning from true DC to >30Ghz. The Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) strategy within instrumentation has a focus on close collaboration with customers to deliver high performance solutions enabling the production test of all electrical and electronic equipment from high speed microprocessors to high voltage electric vehicle battery systems.

The Switch and Multiplexer (SMX) strategy is part of ATE with responsibility to deliver precision switching needs servicing a broad range of customers both within Instrumentation and beyond. SMX has a team of 30 people in Limerick and 20 in the Philippines. SMX has world leading portfolio in precision switching solutions with over 250 products targeting multiple applications and markets.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with customers / stakeholders to help define new products
  • RF design and simulation of the circuits necessary to implement the new product and achieve the desired specifications
  • Work collaboratively with the IC layout engineer and Manufacturing to convert the design to the masks needed for IC manufacture
  • Work with applications, marketing, backend teams (eval, test) and support groups (foundry, assembly, reliability, failure analysis etc.) to successfully bring a product to market on schedule
  • Work on developing the next generation of core MEMS technology, to fuel future MEMS switch product roadmaps.

Qualifications and skills

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Be self-motivated, willing to accept responsibility and show initiative in identifying and solving challenging technical problems
  • Strong teamwork, inter-personal and communication skills
  • Experience with RF modelling tools such as HFSS or ADS, or finite element modelling tools be an advantage.
