The Team

The Revenue Accounting Operations (RAO) Team manages Cisco’s end-to-end revenue accounting and reporting lifecycle, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial results under ASC 606 and IFRS 15. We oversee core activities across transaction-price allocation, revenue recognition scheduling, financial postings, balance sheet reconciliations, and revenue forecasting. In addition, our team spearheads cross-functional continuous improvement projects to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen internal controls under the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), and optimize financial reporting systems.

The Role

As a Revenue Accounting Operations Analyst, you will play a vital role in executing day-to-day revenue accounting, financial close workflows, and accounting compliance. Combining technical revenue accounting expertise with analytical rigor, you will assess commercial transactions to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment under United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP). You will partner closely with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Operations to resolve complex accounting inquiries, perform variance analyses, and drive reporting accuracy.

Your Responsibilities

• Revenue Accounting & Recognition: Manage daily revenue accounting operations, evaluate commercial contract terms, and determine accurate revenue recognition schedules and transaction-price allocations under ASC 606 / US GAAP.
• Month-End Close & Reconciliations: Execute month-end close deliverables, prepare journal entries, perform detailed balance sheet and deferred revenue reconciliations, and ensure adherence to SOX internal controls.
• Financial Analysis & Forecasting: Perform monthly and quarterly revenue analytics, evaluate actuals-versus-forecast variances, and support the development of reliable revenue outlooks and management reports.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Legal, Deal Desk, and Business Operations to provide clear accounting guidance on non-standard deal structures and resolve revenue-related matters.
• Process Improvement & System Optimization: Participate in automation and systems enhancement initiatives to streamline revenue accounting workflows, eliminate manual interventions, and strengthen data integrity.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline (or equivalent practical work experience).
• 3+ years of progressive professional experience in revenue accounting, corporate accounting, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A).
• Exposure to core accounting principles, financial statements, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end close activities, revenue variance analysis, and audit-ready documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex data modeling and variance analysis, accompanied by strong written and verbal English communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

• Working familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standard 15 (IFRS 15) and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) internal control frameworks.
• Demonstrated background partnering with commercial sales and legal teams to evaluate contract terms and multi-element arrangements.
• Experience participating in accounting automation, workflow optimization, or reporting enhancement projects.
