Job Description

The business has recently migrated to SAP ByDesign and is looking for an interim role, working with the management accountants to ensure that revenue is migrated properly into SAP ByDesign, on a project / contract basis. Once properly migrated to run the revenue recognition with the management accountants and ensure all processes are properly mapped.

The Revenue Recognition Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring that the company’s revenue is recorded accurately, on time, and in full compliance with applicable accounting standards. This position partners closely with Finance, Sales, and Operations teams to evaluate contracts, assess revenue implications, and support the month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Responsibilities
  • Review customer contracts, amendments, and sales arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
  • Review Revenue recognition treatment to ensure that it is compliant with changes to FRS102 applicable for 2026/27 year ends
  • Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and consistently across all business units.
  • Maintain documentation supporting revenue conclusions and accounting positions.
  • Monitor compliance with internal policies and external accounting standards.
  • Prepare and post revenue-related journal entries.
  • Reconcile revenue accounts and investigate variances.
  • Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Partner with Sales, and Operations to review deal structures and identify revenue implications early in the process.
  • Provide guidance to internal teams on revenue recognition rules and best practices.
  • Support system enhancements and process improvements related to revenue workflows
  • Analyse revenue trends, deferred revenue balances, and contract assets/liabilities.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
  • Contribute to system implementations or upgrades related to revenue accounting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and revenue recognition principles.
  • 2–5 years of relevant accounting experience (public accounting or industry).
  • Understanding of the Construction industry
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, ideally SAP ByDesign (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent certification (or progress toward one)
  • Familiarity with contract review processes and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret complex contracts and apply accounting judgment.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to challenge assumptions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative approach with a customer-service mindset.
