Job Description

Learn from our award-winning journalists this summer at the world’s largest international news agency.

Key Responsibilities

Our global Reuters News Internship Program gives you the chance to fast-track your journalism career and develop your skills across a variety of subjects and media. We welcome passionate and curious reporters, producers, photojournalists and data specialists who want to tell stories for a global audience. Reuters seeks diverse candidates from all backgrounds and is excited to work with emerging talent who can cover breaking news and tell in-depth stories from new perspectives.

This internship offers a student or early-career journalist the opportunity to intern with the Reuters Graphics Desk in New York.

Reuters Graphics is an editorial team focused on telling stories through charts, maps, illustrations and interactives.

Our goal is to find a new way into every story, whether that is through form or topic. That often means finding innovative ways to tell global stories. But it can also be a story about the mental benefits of video games, told through an original and interactive game. The throughline in our work is finding ways to add to the conversation and offer a new perspective.

We believe that this creativity is best achieved through providing a diverse and collaborative team with flexibility and empathy.

Interns will find opportunities to partner with Reuters editors and reporters worldwide. That will include working with members of the newsroom’s other data journalism groups, such as its award-winning analysis team and its news application desk.

This work requires blending skills from journalism, computer programming and design. Ideal participants bring interest and experience in more than one of those areas.

  • Commitment to a career in journalism
  • Ambition to deliver journalism with real impact
  • Enthusiasm, ideas and proactivity

  • Formal training and coaching
  • Interns are expected to contribute to in-depth stories during their assignment
