Job Description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring for a Supervisor of Dietary Line for Food Nutrition Services as a Full time job in Nashville Tennessee.

The Food and Nutrition Services Retail Supervisor oversee daily operations of the hospital cafeteria and retail food service areas. This role ensures high-quality food service, excellent customer satisfaction, compliance with healthcare, food safety standards, and efficient staff supervision. The supervisor coordinates food production, cashiering, sanitation, inventory control, and employee performance while supporting the hospital’s mission of patient and guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily operations of the hospital cafeteria and retail food service areas.
  • Lead, schedule, and train food service employees and cashiers.
  • Ensure excellent customer service for patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, temperature control, and portion standards.
  • Enforce sanitation, infection control, and food safety regulations including HACCP and health department standards.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with menu implementation, merchandising, and promotional activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of food and supplies.
  • Handle cash management, register reconciliation, and daily sales reporting.
  • Resolve customer concerns and employee issues professionally and promptly.
  • Collaborate with dietitians, chefs, and management to improve retail operations.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments.
  • Assist with budgeting, labor management, and cost-control initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2–5 years of food service or cafeteria experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and healthcare dietary regulations.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency with POS systems and basic computer applications.
Certifications
  • ServSafe Certification or equivalent food safety certification preferred or required within a specified timeframe.
