Job Description

At Oscar Wylee Wellington Central, we're looking for an experienced retail leader to join us as Store Manager on a six-month full-time contract.

You'll lead and develop your team, take ownership of store performance and create an environment where exceptional customer care and strong commercial results go hand in hand.

No optical experience? Some of our most successful Store Managers joined us from outside the optical industry. We'll teach you the optical side while you bring your leadership experience, commercial mindset and passion for developing people.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead, coach and develop your team to perform at their best
• Drive sales, KPIs and commercial performance through genuine customer care
• Take ownership of day-to-day store operations, compliance and performance standards
• Manage rosters, budgets and labour efficiency
• Provide hands-on leadership across sales, service and the customer experience
• Partner with our Optometrists to deliver an exceptional experience for every customer
• Build a positive, accountable and high-performing team culture

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Has 1–2+ years' experience as an Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager or in a similar retail leadership role
• Has experience with rostering, budgets and store performance
• Is confident coaching, motivating and developing a team
• Has a strong customer focus and enjoys leading from the floor
• Is organised, proactive and comfortable making decisions
• Is available to work Tuesday to Saturday
• Wants to continue developing their retail leadership and commercial capability

Optical experience is highly regarded but not essential – we'll provide the training and support you need to learn optical retail.
