Reports to Regional Manager

Location - Osaka, Japan

Herman Miller Japan is looking for a new Store Manager to support and ensure overall store operations to meet the customers expectation. Osaka-Umeda store will be open at the end of September 2026.

The position reports directly to Regional Manager based in Japan. it will be your responsibility to deliver the Herman Miller Client Experience through team coaching of demonstrations, quoting, and generation of sales. You will be expected to train and inspire your team to achieve the store sales plan. As an industry leader for over 100 years in office furnishings and iconic homes, Herman Miller remains committed to innovation and ergonomic design.

Our Store Managers work strategically to maximize their store revenue and efficiently manage all aspects of sales and merchandising. This includes but is not limited to hiring effectively, performance management, and employee relations in partnership with Human Resources and the Regional Manager. You will report to a Regional Manager.

Specific responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise all over the operations in Osaka-Umeda store while working closely with the local management and the regional & global teams.
  • Co-lead the in-store marketing & promotions working closely with the local management and marketing.
  • Be aware of store sales and KPI targets, as well as team performance targets, take ownership over them.
  • Execute the Brand Customer Service standards to meet or exceed customers’ expectations.
  • Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of store staff.
  • Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinate work activities with other supervisors/store managers.
  • Execute and maintain established Visual Merchandising and In-Store Communication standards.
  • Build a team with diverse talents and experiences and allowing them to play to their strengths.

Compliance; ensure compliance with business systems, processes, certification schemes, regulations, and legislation relevant to the scope of your role. Support internal quality controls and audits to demonstrate compliance. Support centrally driven sustainability initiatives.

Job holder requirements

  • Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written English
  • A minimum of 3 years management experience. Including experience in coaching and developing people
  • Ability to lead a high level of customer service in a Brand Retailer
  • Ability to lead, and manager a team
  • Ability to work weekend and holidays
  • Work location: Umeda, Osaka.
