Retail Store Assistant

At Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL), we are seeking a passionate Retail Assistant to join our dedicated Social Enterprises team.

  • Location: Belmont
  • Job Type: Permanent part time 22.8 hours per week - Friday and Saturday availability is required.
  • Salary: Up to $56,623.65 pro rata per annum, based on skills and experience plus 11.5% superannuation)

About the role

The Retail Assistant is responsible for general store duties under the guidance of the Store Manager, working alongside volunteers and supporting the overall retail operation of the store.

  • Ensure high quality reputation through providing high quality, courteous and professional customer service, sales and merchandising
  • Ensure customer requests are met in a professional and timely manner;
  • Ensure the store and back of house areas are clean and tidy at all times;
  • Ensure donations are sorted according to the Social Enterprises retail standards;
  • Assist with the display, sale and stock control of product including furniture, white goods and clothing

  • Previous retail experience (preferably in recycled goods, but not essential)
  • Strong customer service focus and professional manner
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with diverse communities
  • Physically fit, able to lift heavy items, bend and stand for long periods
  • Empathy with the values and ideals of BSL

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.
