The Retail Sales Supervisor supports daily store operations by leading and coaching retail sales associates, delivering exceptional customer service, driving sales, maintaining merchandising and inventory standards, and assisting the Store Manager in achieving store goals while ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Pay for this Role: $18.00 to $22.00 an hour depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service
  • Provide outstanding customer service and ensure customers receive prompt, professional assistance.
  • Support sales growth by helping customers identify products and solutions that meet their needs.
  • Assist in achieving store sales goals through product knowledge, suggestive selling, and team coaching.
  • Resolve customer concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Promote company programs, services, and special promotions.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of store products, departments, and services.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Assist with training, onboarding, and coaching retail sales associates.
  • Provide daily direction and support to team members to ensure excellent customer service and operational execution.
  • Help monitor employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and effectiveness.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to company policies.
  • Support scheduling, task delegation, and workload management as assigned by store leadership.
  • Assist with opening and closing procedures as needed.
Store Operations
  • Help ensure merchandise is properly stocked, priced, organized, and displayed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs.
  • Assist with receiving, stocking, and merchandising products throughout the store.
  • Ensure shelves, displays, and sales areas remain clean, safe, and visually appealing.
  • Support accurate inventory counts and cycle count activities.
  • Maintain awareness of store security and loss prevention practices.
Cash Handling & Administrative Support
  • Assist with register operations and customer transactions.
  • Support cash handling procedures and daily balancing activities.
  • Help maintain accurate records and documentation related to store operations.
  • Assist with special orders, returns, and customer account transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper use of equipment and safe material handling practices.
  • Report safety concerns, accidents, and operational issues promptly.
  • Support store compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous retail sales experience required.
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.
  • Experience in building materials, hardware, home improvement, or related retail environments preferred.
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems and inventory processes preferred.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of retail sales practices and merchandising principles.
  • Ability to resolve customer concerns professionally and effectively.
  • Basic math, cash handling, and computer skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and retail software systems preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors as business needs require.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • May be required to operate material handling equipment after receiving proper training and certification.
