Job Description

Donated Goods Retail Production Specialist
Goodwill Columbus – Donated Goods Retail
Pay: $13
Schedule: We’re hiring for shifts, including daytime, evenings and weekends
Employment Type: Full-time, Hourly
Help Turn Donations into Opportunity
At Goodwill Columbus, every donated item helps fund job training and career opportunities in our community. As a Donated Goods Retail Production Specialist, you play a key role in making that happen. You prepare donated items for sale, support your teammates, and keep production moving so our stores can succeed.
If you like staying active, working with your hands, and being part of a team that shares a purpose, this could be a great fit for you.
What You’ll Do Each Day
You’ll work behind the scenes preparing donated items for the sales floor. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where your effort makes an immediate difference.
In this role, you will:
• Sort, inspect, and prepare donated clothing, household items, and accessories
• Decide which items are sold, recycled, or redirected based on Goodwill guidelines
• Tag and price items accurately and efficiently
• Meet daily production and quality goals
• Help keep the work area clean, organized, and safe
• Support teammates and help production stay on track
• Treat donors, customers, and coworkers with dignity and respect

Production Expectations (What “Success” Looks Like)
This role includes clear, measurable goals. Please understand the pace before you apply.
• Softlines (clothing & textiles):
◦ Grading, hanging, and barbing: 75–85 items per hour
• Hardlines (housewares & goods):
◦ Sorting, pricing and staging: 4 full carts per hour
You’ll receive training and support, but comfort with a steady, physical pace is important.
What We’re Looking For
What matters most is your passion to turn donations into great values for our customers.
You may be a great fit if you:
• Enjoy hands-on, active work
• Show up on time and take pride in doing your part
• Can stay focused and positive in a busy environment
• Like working independently and as part of a team
• Care about helping others and supporting a mission

Education & experience:
• High school diploma or GED is helpful, but not required
• Retail or production experience is a plus, not a must

Physical & Work Environment
• You’ll be on your feet most of the shift
• Regular lifting up to 30 pounds (heavier items occasionally)
• Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and pushing throughout the day
• Fast-paced thrift store and production setting
• Reliable attendance is important for team success

Why Work at Goodwill Columbus?
• Be part of a mission that changes lives through work
• Gain valuable retail and production experience
• Work with a supportive, team-focused group
• Every day is different — and every role matters
