Based in Brisbane, the Retail Middle Office Analyst sits within the Retail Middle Office team and reports to the Head of Middle Office. The team is responsible for modelling and data analytics across customer demand forecasting, wholesale hedging, and risk management. This role supports the development of forecasting models, risk frameworks, and reporting to inform commercial and trading decisions.

With respect, integrity and honesty you will:

Customer Demand Forecasting

  • Support development and optimisation of demand forecasting models
  • Analyse customer cohorts and assess risk premia
  • Provide forecasts and insights to support hedging decisions
  • Prepare inputs for weekly forecasts and Risk Committee reporting

Risk Management & Reporting

  • Support development and maintenance of hedge and risk policies
  • Monitor compliance with risk frameworks and limits
  • Develop and maintain reporting on exposures, performance and gross margin impacts
  • Maintain operational risk registers and identify mitigation actions

Wholesale Hedging

  • Monitor portfolio positions and support trade execution instructions
  • Analyse wholesale costs and exposure risks
  • Assess and recommend hedging strategies and products
  • Provide reporting including mark-to-market and trade cost analysis

Systems & Data

  • Support development of Middle Office systems (ETRM)
  • Provide pricing updates and independent price verification
  • Ensure accurate data provision for pricing and risk processes

Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:

  • Experience in mathematical or statistical modelling, ideally within energy, risk, or finance environments
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate insights clearly
  • Ability to engage stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
  • Proactive approach with problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a numerate discipline (or equivalent)
