AT A GLANCE

Broad River Retail is currently seeking a Retail Construction Assistant to join our team. The position will perform a variety of skilled duties in one or more of the building trades, such as painting, carpentry, minor electrical work, cement masonry, drywall or other recognized crafts for the purpose of maintaining, repairing or remodeling our showrooms.

DAY IN THE LIFE AS THIS MEMORY MAKER

• Prepares and paints walls
• Conducts minor woodwork repairs, including types of refinishing
• Installs or repairs carpet
• Performs custodial duties as required
• Assists in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems (i.e. plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning)
• Helps with large showroom projects like merchandise refreshes and store openings
• Assists in minor electrical work
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment
• Performs safety checks throughout the facility to ensure a safe and clean environment for the patrons of the showrooms to eliminate all hazards
• Other duties as assigned

• High School Diploma/GED
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction practices and procedures
• Demonstrated knowledge of general maintenance and repair work
• Understanding of rough and finished carpentry techniques
• Ability to use various carpentry supplies and equipment
• Considerable knowledge of various lumber grades and types and their adaptability to certain settings
• A desire to learn modern methods and techniques of building construction, materials, and methods
• Ability to prepare walls and woodwork for various types of refinishing
• Thorough knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures
• A valid Driver's License and excellent driving record

WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job the employee is

• The employee is required to operate objects, tools, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
• Wear the proper PPE when handling chemicals
• Must be able to routinely lift or move objects up to 75 pounds alone and team lift objects over 75 pounds
• Must also be able to travel in a vehicle for long periods of time
• A valid Driver's License and excellent driving record
