Girl Scouts - North Carolina Coastal Pines is looking for a part-time Retail Associate to support the Wilmington Council’s retail store. This position is part-time working 12 - 15 hours a week at an hourly rate of $16.00.

The Wilmington Retail Shop is open Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 5:30 pm and Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The retail shop is closed on the weekends.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Assists walk-in customers with purchasing Girl Scout merchandise, and also handles phone, fax, and mail orders promptly. Provides demonstrations and explanations to ensure customers understand the correct use of uniforms and insignia.
• Ensures stock levels are maintained and that the store and stockroom are neat and clean at all times to meet the needs of the shop's customers.
• Provides high-quality services to all internal and external customers (employed staff, Girl Scout members, etc.) by portraying a positive image of Girl Scouting.
• Supports special marketing initiatives to boost sales, including organizing and participating in special events as needed.
• Conducts the annual physical inventory of merchandise.
• Contact customers with backorders in a timely manner to update them on the status of their orders.
• Actively support and promote the Council’s and GSUSA’s commitments to diversity and inclusion.
• Must be willing to become a member of GSUSA upon hire.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• 1-year experience in retail, related merchandising, or a related field.
• Must have excellent communication skills and be a team player who can also work independently.
• Must be able to work weekends as needed.
• A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel throughout our council jurisdiction is preferred.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee frequently communicates with customers and moves about inside the retail shop to assist customers and stock items. Must be able to remain in a stationary position and frequently operate office equipment. The employee frequently moves up to 30 pounds. It is essential the employee be able to detect, identify, recognize, and assess many different situations that may occur within the retail shop at any given time.
