About the Role:
As a Retail and Catering Service Associate, you’ll help create a welcoming experience for students, employees, guests, and event attendees across Concordia’s retail dining locations and catered events. This hands-on role combines customer service, food preparation and service, retail operations, and event support as part of a collaborative Dining Services team.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare, serve, and replenish a variety of hot, cold, fresh, and packaged food and beverage items.
- Provide friendly, attentive customer service in retail locations and at catered events.
- Help set up, serve, and clean up for catered events, including transporting food, supplies, and equipment to off-site locations using College vehicles.
- Process cash, credit card, and meal plan transactions and assist with cash handling and reconciliation.
- Provide direction and support to student employees and on-call staff.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized food service areas and equipment while following food safety and sanitation practices.
- Assist with product ordering, inventory, food production records, and other operational needs.
- Provide bar service at designated events, including stocking, serving, payment collection, and cleanup.
- Work closely with students, coworkers, and managers to provide a positive experience for Concordia’s customers and guests.

Qualifications:
What We're Looking For:
We’re looking for someone with experience in food service, retail, customer service, or a similar environment who enjoys working with people and contributing to a team. The ideal candidate is dependable, service-oriented, comfortable preparing and serving food, and able to help keep a busy dining and event environment running smoothly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience in food service, retail, customer service, or a related environment.
- Valid Driver’s License Insurable driving record.
- Must possess a ServSafe certificate or similar food safety course certificate or pass the ServSafe exam within the first three months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of food service equipment such as bag-in-box soda dispensers, pizza oven, cash register, grill, fryer, etc.
Skills and Abilities:
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills and abilities:
- Basic employment skills: reading, oral and written communication, and performing simple arithmetic, operating basic office equipment.
- Standard restaurant and cooking skills (e.g., operating deep fryer, pizza oven, grill, steam kettle, dish washing machine, cash register);
- Broad range of technical skills, (e.g., generating cash register reports, inventory counting, basic math knowledge including recipe conversions);
- Ability to prepare short-order restaurant food items (pizzas, grilled and fried foods, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Skills in giving direction to young adult employees.
- Skills with operating cash register including various types of transactions.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Ability to engage our customers with an attitude of willingness and dedication to serve.

The final salary will be determined based on factors such as education, experience, skills, certifications, and alignment with the position's requirements. Other considerations may include internal equity and market conditions.
