The Restaurant Server is responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences through attentive, knowledgeable, and personalized service. This role welcomes guests, provides menu recommendations, takes accurate food and beverage orders, and ensures timely, professional service throughout each meal.

Restaurant Servers may be assigned to any of South Seas' three unique dining venues, each offering a distinctive atmosphere and menu while sharing the same commitment to exceptional hospitality. Whether serving families enjoying a casual meal, guests celebrating a special occasion, or visitors relaxing after a day on the island, Restaurant Servers create memorable experiences that reflect the South Seas brand.

RATE OF PAY: $12.00 per hour + tips

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide warm, genuine, and professional service to every guest from arrival through departure.
  • Create memorable guest experiences by anticipating needs and exceeding expectations.
  • Present menus, explain daily specials, answer questions, and make knowledgeable food and beverage recommendations.
  • Accurately enter orders into the POS system while ensuring modifications and dietary restrictions are communicated to the kitchen.
  • Serve food and beverages promptly while maintaining established service standards.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and resolve concerns professionally or involve leadership when appropriate.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of menu items, ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and beverage offerings.
  • Upsell appetizers, specialty beverages, desserts, and featured menu items to enhance the guest experience.
  • Process guest payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked service stations throughout each shift.
  • Complete opening, side work, and closing duties according to department standards.
  • Assist with resetting tables and maintaining dining room appearance.
  • Work collaboratively with hosts, bartenders, kitchen staff, food runners, and fellow servers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines and verify identification when required.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Adhere to South Seas grooming, appearance, and uniform standards.
  • Support resort events, special functions, and banquet operations as business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license, motor vehicle background check will be completed.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to hold this role, serving/selling alcohol in the state of FL.
  • Previous restaurant serving experience preferred; upscale resort or hospitality experience is a plus.
  • Experience using POS systems preferred.
  • Alcohol awareness certification or ability to obtain required (can obtain through South Seas.
  • Food Handlers Certification or ability to obtain required (can obtain at South Seas)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Passion for providing exceptional guest service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with guests while maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Basic math skills for handling guest payments.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequently lift and carry trays, food, and beverages weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequently bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and twist.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor dining environments in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate crowded dining rooms while carrying trays and beverages.
