Your role at BRE

This role will support the delivery and development of BRE’s assurance and certification services, including the BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Standard. The role involves managing certification projects, conducting technical audits, and contributing to the evolution of Sustainable Products schemes and supporting science.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and deliver certification projects, including client meetings, proposals and technical reports
• Undertake BES 6001 technical surveillance audits across the UK, Europe & China
• Contribute to the development, maintenance and improvement of assurance scheme design and processes
• Ensure certification and verification activities are delivered in line with relevant standards
• Review customer and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for performance improvements
• Support technical experts in maintaining and developing the Sustainable Products science base
• Assist in the development of digital platforms supporting supply chain assurance services
• Deliver fee‑earning work contributing to team performance and growth
• Collaborate closely with the Responsible Sourcing Senior Consultant and wider Sustainable Products Team.

What we are looking for

• Strong knowledge of responsible sourcing and sustainable supply chains within manufacturing, retail, auditing or consulting
• Experience working with audits, certification processes and the management of product supply chains
• Solid technical understanding of organisational management system standards
• Knowledge of sustainability legislation and initiatives such as science‑based targets, SDGs, UNGC, CDP, and supply chain assurance programmes such as ETI, SMETA and SA8000
• Understanding of international standards and legislation relevant to BES 6001
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise work and meet changing deadlines
• Strong communication skills with the capability to interpret client needs and deliver high‑quality certification outputs
• Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe to conduct audits and attend client meetings
• High level of IT literacy, including extensive knowledge of MS Office
• Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as ethical trade, responsible sourcing or sustainable products (desirable)
• Understanding of UK construction sector supply chains and expectations (desirable)
• Familiarity with Sustainable Products certification schemes and wider construction industry requirements (desirable)
• Knowledge of ISO and CEN standards relating to product assessment (desirable)
• Understanding of BREEAM and/or the BRE business (desirable)
• Membership of a relevant professional body such as IEMA (desirable)

Work Location Options

Fully Remote – This role is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere in the UK. However, you will need to be willing to travel to Europe and China as part of this role.
