Job Title: Responsible Individual 👤

Location: Bedfordshire & North Hertfordshire
Salary: Part-Time or Full-Time – Dependent on Experience

  • Part-Time (1 Home | 25 hours p/w): £30,000 – £35,000 p/a

  • Full-Time (2–3 Homes | 40 hours p/w): £50,000 – £60,000 p/a
    Working Hours: Part-Time or Full-Time (up to 40 hours per week)
    Service: Children’s Home
    Service Users: YPs – Looked After Children
    Qualifications Required: NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (or equivalent)
    Experience in Years Required: Minimum 2 years in a management capacity
    Employment Type: Permanent

Who we are looking for… 🌟

We are seeking an experienced and committed Responsible Individual to have overall responsibility for up to three small Children’s Homes This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality care, strong leadership, and regulatory compliance across services.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising, coaching, and managing up to three Home Managers

  • Supporting services to achieve and maintain Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings

  • Identifying staffing shortfalls and implementing recruitment plans

  • Supporting recruitment processes across residential services when required

  • Leading services in an aspirational and inspiring way for both children and staff

  • Producing monitoring reports, statistical data, and evaluations within agreed deadlines

  • Ensuring the needs of children remain paramount in all decision-making

  • Maintaining professional relationships with multi-agency partners, Regulation 44 Visitors, Ofsted Inspectors, families, and other stakeholders

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a management capacity

  • Experience working within residential children’s services

  • Supervision and leadership experience

  • Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management

Knowledge & Understanding: 📘

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015

  • Single Social Care Inspection Framework (SSCIF)

  • Children Act 1989, 2004, Children and Families Act 2014

  • Care Standards Act 2000

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children

  • Safeguarding, child protection, equality & diversity

  • Care and placement planning, risk and review processes

  • Education, health, social, emotional and psychological needs of looked after children

  • Commitment to keeping up to date with research and best practice within residential care
