Central Virginia Community College is located in Lynchburg, Virginia, in view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. CVCC is a comprehensive two-year institution of higher education with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students in occupational/technical programs and university-parallel/college transfer programs.

Central Virginia Community College Clinical instructor responsibilities:

· Orient students to the clinical setting and plan student assignments that align with the student’s educational level and course objectives.

· Reinforce concepts taught in CVCC’s Respiratory Therapy program curriculum.

· Assist students in acquiring the appropriate knowledge, skills, and attitudes required of professional respiratory therapists.

· Support students in using methods of problem-solving and critical thinking.

· Encourage students to assume increasing responsibility for personal development.

· Create opportunities for students to independently provide appropriate respiratory therapies with increasing levels of responsibility.

· Supervises patient care, physical assessment, and medication administration.

· Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Education and/or Program Director regarding important student issues, such as unsafe practice or other critical incidents.

· Complete a Daily Evaluation in Trajecsys.

· Sign off on Clinical Competencies in Trajecsys.

· Participates in mid-semester and end-semester clinical evaluation.

Special Assignments

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications

· Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials

· VA state Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine

· AARC member

· AS, AAS, or higher in Respiratory Therapy

· Two (2) years of recent clinical experience

· Must complete yearly competencies at clinical affiliate.

· Complete any employee training required by CVCC
