The salary range for this position is CAD $37.89/Hr. - CAD $47.31/Hr.

Under the direction of the Professional Practice Leader for Respiratory Therapy, the Respiratory Therapist:

  • provides services related to pulmonary diagnostic testing, respiratory therapy, and critical care services
  • contributes to the development and evaluation of clinical materials, program planning and procedures, and inventory control by providing feedback and input
  • maintains knowledge of current developments in respiratory therapy as required by the employer.

What You Bring

Education:

Graduation from a recognized school of Respiratory Therapy and Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) Certified.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective communication with patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and healthcare providers.
  • Proficiency in performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
  • Ability to gather relevant data and conduct multi-dimensional assessments.
  • Competence in conducting patient/resident assessments.
  • Understanding of other healthcare disciplines and their roles.
  • Skill in eliciting information to understand patient/resident situations thoroughly.
  • Independence in prioritizing workload and tasks.
  • Participation in research activities.
  • Supervision and teaching of students.
  • Development and delivery of in-services and presentations.

Your Day to Day:

  • Assesses, develops, implements, and evaluates Respiratory Therapy care for patients, documenting treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Manages oxygen therapy initiation, monitoring, and discontinuation.
  • Conducts pulmonary function testing and maintains equipment calibration.
  • Assists Physicians with bronchoscopy procedures and sample procurement.
  • Performs various procedures including arterial line insertions and blood gas punctures.
  • Conducts weaning protocols for patients on respiratory modalities.
  • Accompanies patients during inter/intra hospital transport requiring respiratory support.
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to procedure development.
  • Completes health record reports and workload statistics.
  • Provides clinical supervision and evaluation for students.
