This job performs duties necessary to treat patients in accordance with the physicians’ orders and department policy. Performs all procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Therapist or Respiratory Therapy Technician. Job duties will be assigned based on student's clinical progression and competency validation.

Accountabilities

  • Performs respiratory therapy procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and the Respiratory Care Guidelines (RT Consult). May not take verbal orders or modify orders. 50%
  • Communicates well with supervisors, therapists and technicians. Provides a complete and accurate report.10%
  • May perform blood gasses from all sites. Analyzes and reports results accurately.10%
  • Accurately and completely documents and charges for respiratory care procedures and provides patient and family education as appropriate. 20%
  • Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives. Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection and sterilization of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status. 10%

This is a non-management job that report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
