Organization:

SDMC-Sutter Delta Medical CenterPerforms therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities. Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.

EDUCATION

Other: Graduate of a two-year respiratory care program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) (may be evidenced by RCP/RRT/CRT license).


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • RCP-Respiratory Care Practitioner

  • NRP-Neonatal Resuscitation Provider if required at the entity

  • RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist (required at hire or, if hired before 09/30/2025, required within 90 days of 09/30/2025)

  • OR CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist (required at hire or, if hired before 09/30/2025, required within 90 days of 09/30/2025)

  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
2 years of recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Capable of performing routine or emergency respiratory care as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.

  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.

  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.

  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook), electronic health records (EHR), and EPIC.

  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

  • Work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

  • Identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.

  • Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).

  • Build collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

  • Function effectively and perform this position in an emergency situation.

Pay Range is $57.87 to $72.66 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
