Respiratory Extern - (260003HM)
Respiratory Extern performs designated non licensed clinical support procedures under the supervision of a Respiratory Care Coordinator or designee, in accordance with departmental protocols and hospital policies. The Respiratory Extern supports respiratory care services by assisting with pulmonary diagnostic preparation, patient flow activities, and basic respiratory procedures within defined educational scope. This role also provides operational support to the Respiratory Care department through equipment handling and supply management activities when appropriate. All duties are performed in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.Essential FunctionsAssists with non licensed respiratory clinical procedures under appropriate supervision and within educational scope.Supports incentive spirometry and simple spirometry activities as directed.Prepares sleep lab rooms and greets patients upon arrival for scheduled sleep studies.Assists with patient flow activities to support efficient respiratory diagnostic services.Provides support to equipment technicians by distributing respiratory equipment, stock, and supplies to designated areas when appropriate.Cleans, disinfects, visually inspects, calibrates, and assists with setup of assigned biomedical and electronic respiratory equipment.Participates in daily rounds to retrieve and return respiratory equipment to the Respiratory Care department.Maintains compliance with infection prevention, safety, and patient identification standards.Performs assigned duties in accordance with departmental policies and hospital guidelines.Completes additional tasks as assigned in support of Respiratory Care operations.
