
POSITION TITLE: Elementary Resource Teacher
STATUS: Certified – Contract
HOURS OF WORK / CALENDAR: 40 hours / 187-calendar
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for a special education resource classroom. The person in this position is expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for an elementary environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. They must demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds. They will participate in professional activities as well as extracurricular and/or academic support activities.
This position is part of the special education team and reports to the principal.
This position requires the performance of light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position involves prolonged sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing; occasional stooping, bending, and reaching; some pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling, balancing, and crouching. The position involves having close visual acuity to perform activities of the job. The position also requires the operation of learning technologies such as computers, hand-held devices, etc. as well as relevant office equipment. Work is preformed mostly in an indoor environment, with occasional outdoor requirements. Work is performed in a generally clean and hazard free environment.
