LOCATION:Las Vegas, NV - Palomino- Family Services

STATUS:Non Exempt/FT 40hrs/wk

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree in Human Services, Public or Business Administration, or related discipline required. (4 years of related employment experience may be substituted for degree requirements)
  • Experience working with homeless and/or at-risk clients and families preferred.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of community resources in Southern Nevada.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate & work effectively with a diverse group of residents, staff, and community partners.
  • Must have a valid Nevada driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass The Salvation Army’s Fleet Safety e-learning module.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist clients with the housing search process, including helping clients identify suitable housing options, accompanying clients to view units, advocating for clients with landlords, and assisting clients with paperwork.
  • Provide tenancy support (including tenant education, home visits, etc.)
  • Serve as a housing resource for case managers in the Family Services Department.
  • Research private market landlord availability and supportive housing program options.
  • Develop relationships with area landlords to facilitate client placement.
  • Provide resources and referrals for homeless and at-risk clients and their families.
  • Provide post-placement conflict resolution and mediation services for clients and landlords.
  • Maintain client databases and referrals for services and generate reports.
  • Complete accurate and timely data entry into the HMIS and WellSky systems.
  • Attend all scheduled team meetings and training sessions.
  • Attend weekly Food Pantry Distribution to assist with data entry and provide resources.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned including but not limited to seasonal events as they relate to the position of Resource Specialist.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.

This position is subject to grant funding; however, if the funding ends, the position may be eliminated.
