Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the PCT I performs delegated patient care activities in a manner that is aligned with the age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality care. PCT I is an entry level position whose job functions include but are not limited to: providing for a patient's activities of daily living (ADLs); limited screening, collection, and recording of data and information; maintenance of unit supplies and equipment; patient transporting; answering call-lights, telephone, Vocera. There are four pathways of entry into the PCT I position (see EXPERIENCE). **If coworker is under the age of 18, he/she may not operate a power-driven hoisting apparatus such as a Hoyer Lift. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Performs delegated patient care activities as directed by the RN or medical staff upon completion of documented training, in a manner that is aligned with age specific needs of the patient to ensure safe, accurate and high-quality treatment of patients.
Documentation of patient care.
Participate in organization, cleaning and safety of unit.
Maintains unit supplies, prepares patient rooms and medical records, enters charges, and answers the multi-line telephone to assist in the safe and efficient operation of the unit.
Answers questions about treatment plan within the expected scope or refers questions to RN.
Make rounds and respond promptly to patient requests.
Assist in the admission, transfer and discharge of patients as directed.
Will be required to float to different units depending on staffing needs throughout hospital.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED -Preferred
6 months of experience as a CNA or PCT in a hospital setting- Required
1 year Prior experience in a healthcare related field- Preferred
Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association within 90 Days -Required
Resource Pool Hourly Requirements:
You Choose! 12, 24 or 36 hours per week with assigned 2 consecutive shifts every 3rd weekend!
Work one major*, one minor** Holiday plus one additional non Holiday
*MAJOR Holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years
**MINOR Holidays: Easter, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day
***ADDITIONAL Non-Holidays:
Days - Halloween, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve
Nights - Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day
