The Business Banking division at CommBank supports Australian businesses with innovative financial solutions, including lending, deposits and payments. Within this division, the Payments team plays a critical role in enabling secure, scalable and customer-focused transaction services across the Australian payments ecosystem.
As Resilience Executive Manager, you will lead the operational resilience agenda across Payments, ensuring critical services remain resilient, compliant and prepared for disruption. You will drive resilience uplift initiatives, represent CommBank in industry and regulatory forums, and help shape the future of resilience across the Australian payments landscape. This role combines strategic leadership, industry engagement and resilience delivery, providing an opportunity to influence outcomes both within CommBank and across the broader financial services sector.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders across Payments, Risk, Technology Retail and Business Banking, as well as industry participants, regulators and customers. You will be responsible for identifying resilience risks and opportunities, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring Payments is well-positioned to respond to an evolving regulatory and operating environment.
Your day could look like (but not limited to):
Lead and drive the operational resilience strategy across Payments.
Identify resilience gaps, risks and improvement opportunities, and develop uplift initiatives.
Represent CommBank in industry working groups, resilience forums and regulatory engagements.
Drive industry resilience initiatives and collaborate with external stakeholders to strengthen sector-wide resilience outcomes.
Working with our Partners to support our key customer resilience needs
Oversee resilience governance, reporting and compliance activities, including CPS 230 obligations, including chairing Critical Operation Working Group
Contribute to crisis management exercises, scenario testing and preparedness activities.
Provide resilience insights and reporting to senior executives and governance forums and Identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive delivery to improve resilience
Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team to deliver strategic resilience outcomes.
What successful candidates will look like
We’re looking for an experienced leader with strong payments knowledge, exceptional stakeholder management skills and a genuine interest in resilience. You'll be comfortable operating in complex environments, influencing senior stakeholders and representing the organisation externally, including talking with customers.
Additional requirements we're looking for:
Experience within the payments industry, ideally across payments operations, cards, merchant acquiring, transaction banking or payment infrastructure.
Strong understanding of the Australian payments and regulatory landscape.
Experience engaging with regulators, industry bodies or external stakeholders, including customers.
Experience identifying operational, resilience or process gaps and driving improvement initiatives.
Strong executive communication and influencing skills.
Experience leading teams and working across complex stakeholder environments.
Exposure to operational resilience, business continuity, crisis management or operational risk disciplines is highly regarded.
