Job Description

Role: Residential Support Worker

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire

Contract/Hours: Permanent – Full time – 37 hours a week.

A bit about the role:

Do you have a strong background in children's residential care? Are you focused and passionate about changing the lives of children and young people for the better? We have a unique opportunity for residential staff to join our team.

Our Residential Support Workers create a safe and supportive environment for children and young people to grow and develop. You will ensure their wellbeing is prioritised by delivering personalised care, guidance and advocacy. It is key that they stay safe and healthy and can reach their full potential.

About the service

Summerfields is a six-bed residential home for Children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years old with complex additional needs. The home offers a place of laughter fun and new experiences where the young person can thrive, learn, and develop helping them to achieve a positive future.

The successful applicant will have a real opportunity to work as part of a well-established thriving team, who will improve the outcomes of children and young people by providing safe, stable, and loving homes for them to live and thrive in.

How you'll help to create brighter futures

  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
  • Being resilient in supporting the young people through challenging situations.

Let's talk about you, ideally you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust

  • Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.

  • Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.

  • Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.

  • Possess a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent) or if you do not possess this you must be prepared to complete this within 2 years.
