, Non-Exempt | Schedule: Monday - Friday 4:30 - 8:30 p.m. | Hours Per Week: 20

The Residential Services Specialist provides organized social and recreational enrichment for residents. Primary responsibilities include providing residents with information about available services in the community, assisting residents to access services through referrals and advocacy, and organizing community building and/or other enrichment activities for residents.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Resident Services

  • Facilitate residents’ participation with credit counseling, computer training, financial literacy education, and job search assistance to help them achieve greater levels of success in their lives
  • Create and distribute focus group questionnaires to elicit interest in group activities and events
  • Create monthly calendars that include on and offsite activities available to residents
  • Assist residents with establishing individual and family goals and maintaining safe, stable affordable housing
  • Facilitate resident’s participation with credit counseling, computer training, financial literacy education and job search assistance to help them achieve greater levels of success in their lives
  • Assist residents to access services through referral and advocacy
  • Collaborate with community partners to enrich activities for residents

Client and Service Delivery

  • Assist clients to build upon their strengths and recognize their needs in a respectful manner
  • Be knowledgeable of community resources and refer clients as needed
  • Maintain effective relationships with the property management and supportive services staff onsite

Miscellaneous

  • Participate in networking functions
  • Attend monthly staff meetings
  • Work with Mercy House staff to oversee and train on-site volunteers
  • Attend training workshops as needed
  • Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications
  • Perform ad hoc projects as appointed by Supervisor



Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Previous direct life experience working with families, low income, and diverse populations preferred

General

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population; plan, organize and prioritize duties; perform crisis intervention as needed; clearly communicate information and instructions verbally and in written form; maintain a positive, professional and safe environment while on duty; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Dependability, responsibility, and the ability to communicate effectively and respectfully
  • Organizational and effective writing skills are required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
