This position is for the Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) assigned to work in one of our residential communities and supports the educational experience of residents and student staff. The RLC is a live-in entry-level administrative position directly supervised by a Senior Area Director. They assist in the day-to-day conduct, conflict resolution, and programming efforts of their residential area. Responsibilities include selection, training, and co-supervision of student staff; crisis management; serving as a conduct hearing officer; collaborating with campus partners; co-curricular and educational programming initiatives; administrative operations; and the development of a comprehensive student development experience. Additionally, the RLC also coordinates with Facilities & Operations. Our residential communities vary in size and room type. This position will serve in one of our residential communities, including but not limited to our year round communities as well. This position involves significant night and weekend work.
Salary Range is $40,000-$42,000
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Development & Programming
Under the direction of the Senior Area Director, co-manages the operations andresidential experience for their residential community. Works closely with theirarea Office Supervisor.
Assists with the recruitment, selection, supervision, and training of student staffincluding up to 22 Resident Assistants.
Facilitates employee performance evaluations and matters of staff discipline andrecognition.
Advises and counsels staff regarding personal and professional matters.
Manages all programming efforts within the residential community as well asimplementation of the area’s community engagement model. Provides leadershipto student employees involved in programming. Includes, but not limited to large-scale events, academic and wellness initiatives, and collaborative programs withStudent Life, the Dean of Students Office, Toppel Career Center, and othercampus partners.
Serves as secondary liaison with Facilities and ABM for communications andresolving area issues.
Maintains visibility and contact with individual students and student groups.
Advises staff on building inclusive community environments.•Promotes diversity awareness and appreciation.•Assists in student development through advising, counseling, and disciplinaryconversations.
Creates and promotes student leadership opportunities in the residentialcommunity, and advises a leadership and/or programming board when applicable.
Area Administration
Assists with the opening and closing of buildings each year.
Contributes to the management of the area’s budget and ensuring compliancewith University procurement policies.
Supports the administration of policies and procedures for room assignments,room changes, occupancy checks, damage reporting and billing.
Represents the Department of Housing and Residential Life on Departmentand University committees, participates fully in the professional activities of theDivision of Student Affairs and develops cooperative relationships with otheroffices in the division.
Assists with summer housing or conference operations.
Safety, Health, & Behavior Management
Assumes weekday, weekend, and holiday/vacation duty coverage of campusthrough serving in the professional staff on-call duty rotation to provideappropriate crisis response for all on campus residents.
Assists with crisis and conduct matters for the residential area. Enforces Universityand Departmental policies and procedures and serves as an investigator/hearingofficer for university disciplinary violations.
Provides safety education and monitors security operations of building, often whilepartnering with the HRL Safety & Security team
Conducts ongoing risk assessment of residential students.
Supports students with resolution of roommate conflicts and crisis managementsituations.
Responds to parent/guardian and student issues, concerns and questions.
Serves as “essential staff” during a hurricane or other campus wide emergency.
Assumes additional duties as assigned by senior staff.

Skills in assessing, organizing, and prioritizing multiple tasks for projects.
Strong skill in written and verbal communication.
Ability to lead, motivate and direct students. Ability to communicate with alllevels of employees and be customer-oriented.
Ability to collaborate at a high level with campus partners, departments, andstakeholders
Must demonstrate ability for independent decision-making, judgment, anddiscretion in responding to problems in the residential college and whenresponding to duty/crisis calls.
Requirements
Essential: Bachelor’s degree is required
Preferred: Master’s Degree in college student personnel, higher education,counseling or related field. Experience with supervision, student conduct, crisisresponse, educational programming, working with faculty, and working with adiverse student population is desirable.

Competitive salary for a 12-month exempt position.
