We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Position: Residential Counselor

The Residential Counselor is responsible to deliver wellness and recovery-oriented case management and support services to service recipients in accordance with the New Jersey Department of Human Services-Division of Mental Health and Addictions Services regulations. The residential counselor provides support directly to the residents, including but not limited to: skill development, supportive counseling, transportation, crisis intervention, assistance with task completion, vocational and social support.

Location: Fanwood, NJ 07023 (Union County)

Minimum Qualifications:
• The position shall have one of the following: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health, health or other appropriate human services related discipline; a license as a registered nurse; a combination of one or more years of college, plus related work or life experience together equaling four years.
• The individual is required to have at least one year of related work or life experience if the four-year college degree does not meet the requirements above. A license as a practical nurse plus two years of related work or life experience or a high school diploma or the equivalent, plus four years of related work or life experience.
• This position shall also have a valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record that meets agency procedures.

Residential Counselor Principal Responsibilities:
1. Provide on-site supervision and support to service recipient.
2. Communicate observations and information about the service recipient to the program manager, RN and treatment team.
3. Supervise, organize and support recreational and/or socialization activities.
4. Transport and/or assist service recipient with accessing transportation to appointments.
5. Provide residential counseling and crisis intervention (but not including crisis intervention counseling)
6. Participate in the development of the individual service plan.
7. Participate in individual service coordination activities, including vocational and educational services.
8. Document observations information and services provided to the service recipient in progress notes.
9. Maintain a clean, safe environment in the facility, including assisting with meal preparation and activities of daily living as needed by the service recipient.
10. Perform other related duties as assigned.
