The Residential Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate measurements, takeoffs, and cost estimates of residential construction projects, as directed by the Estimating Manager. The role includes reviewing plans, preparing detailed takeoffs of materials, obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations, as well as any ad hoc assistance required by the Estimating Manager to meet the project requirements. The estimator works closely with the Estimating team to produce project costs that are accurate and aligned with the project scope and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Review architectural, structural, hydraulic, and other construction plans and specifications.
• Prepare detailed and accurate takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted works.
• Identify items that are missing, unclear, or inconsistent in the plans and specifications.
• Coordinate with Estimating Manager or others regarding project requirements.
• Maintain & update the database of material prices, subcontractor rates, and supplier information.
• Assist in preparing project proposals, quotations, bids, and contracts.
• Maintain complete and organized records, calculations, quotations, and supporting documents.
• Perform other related duties assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• At least four years of experience in Australian residential construction estimating or quantity surveying, preferably high-end custom homes.
• Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and consultant drawings.
• Knowledge of construction materials, methods, sequencing, and industry practices.
• Familiarity with Australian construction terminology, the NCC, and relevant Australian Standards.
• Experience completing detailed quantity take-offs and trade BOQs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Bluebeam and Adobe Acrobat software is required.
• Experience with BuilderTrend is an advantage.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, & document control.
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions and clearly document assumptions and RFIs.
