Job Location: Houston Office - Houston, TX 77020
Salary Range: $20.00 - $24.00 Hourly
Summary:
As a Build Quality Inspector, the individual will provide onsite inspections of completed new construction single family homes. The Build Quality Inspector will assess and document any items not to the builders quality and home readiness standards. Generally, this assessment is done prior to the homeowner viewing the completed home, so creating a thorough inspection for the builder is imperative. This inspection is used by the builder to determine subcontractor workmanship, material quality, Field Manager performance, and potential warranty concerns. It is not for the home buyer.
Report to: Build Quality Regional Manager
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Travel to and from multiple cities within Austin to complete inspections.
- Inspect exterior and interior of single-family homes for compliance with the builders quality standards, giving a fair evaluation of the condition.
- Communicate with builders to the status and areas needing improvement.
- Inspect all aspects of the home roofing, garage, masonry, flatwork, landscaping, fascia, soffit, cornice, HVAC*, Plumbing*, Electrical*, interior walls, flooring, counters, closets, etc.
- Document all inspection items onsite, electronically, with photos, if needed.
- Some commuting to major cities may be required.
- *HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical are visual assessments only, no mechanical diagnostics.
- Communicate proficiently and consistently with dispatch, office staff and peers.
- Obtain the required yearly Continuing Education credits for Employee Development program.
- Complete all electronic forms onsite.
- Attend and participate in team meetings both in office and jobsites.
- Adhere to Tempo Vehicle Policy guidelines.
Qualifications
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Detail oriented and capable of multitasking.
- Work efficiently with little or no supervision.
- Proficient communication skills in email, Slack, text, and phone conversations.
- Positive and professional work manners.
- Reliable work attendance record.
- Safe driving record and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to commute between major cities within the metroplex.
- Ability to carry 50 lbs., and work in inclement weather.
Education and/or Experience
- Knowledge of construction terminology
- Strong understanding of building materials, methods, and general construction terminology.
