The Resident Services Front Desk & Safety Attendant supports a welcoming, secure Independent Living community by providing front desk reception, assisting residents and guests, completing building rounds/lock-up, and responding to emergency calls and urgent situations with calm professionalism. This role is ideal for someone who is steady under pressure, service-minded, and skilled at de-escalation and reassurance.
(No medical certification required; training is provided for site procedures and emergency protocols.)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Front Desk / Resident & Guest Support
Provide reception coverage at the Independent Living front desk; answer phones and emails, provide information, and assist with day-to-day needs.
Support a hospitality-focused environment by greeting and assisting residents/guests with patience, kindness, and professionalism.
Perform administrative support tasks such as making copies, relaying messages/communications to appropriate staff, and other miscellaneous office support as needed.
Safety Rounds / Building Security
Secure buildings at designated times by locking and securing doors and completing rounds/tours of buildings, including halls and all points of entry, to support resident safety.
Emergency Response / Calm Under Pressure
Respond to emergency calls during the shift and follow established procedures.
Support residents during emergencies by responding promptly, maintaining a calm presence, and contacting appropriate responders (including 911 when needed). The community’s emergency call system alerts Resident Services staff for immediate response.
Follow role boundaries and site protocols during alarms and urgent events—communicate clearly, relay what you observe, and coordinate with the appropriate department/lead as directed.
De-escalate tense or anxious situations using steady tone, active listening, and reassurance while ensuring concerns are routed correctly. (A key element of the front desk role is helping residents feel calm and supported during stressful moments.)
QualificationsQualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy environment with interruptions.
Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
Comfortable managing conflict and stressful situations, including emergencies, with a calm, level-headed approach.
Basic computer and telephone skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Senior-living experience preferred.
