Resident Engineer(RE) and Senior Resident Engineers(SRE) – Electrical

Tetra Tech are looking for Resident Engineer(RE) and Senior Resident Engineers(SRE) – Electrical. Help deliver essential water infrastructure across Ireland. Join a team delivering major water utility projects that make a tangible difference to communities and clients. We are looking for Electrical Res and SREs to support site-based teams across the East, South East, South West and North West regions of the Republic of Ireland.

Purpose and Scope of the Role

This is a site-focused role supporting the delivery of major above and below ground water infrastructure projects. You will monitor electrical works on site, check compliance with contract requirements and safety legislation, and help ensure quality, progress and records are maintained to a high standard. The work will involve regular interaction with contractors, site teams, project managers and other technical specialists, with a strong emphasis on reporting, coordination and safe delivery. Projects will vary in scale and complexity, typically involving important operational water assets and multidisciplinary teams.

In the short term, you will build trusted relationships on site and help maintain safe, compliant and well-documented delivery. In the medium term, you will play a key part in resolving technical issues, improving coordination and contributing to successful project outcomes. Core Capabilities

Electrical Site Engineering Expertise

  • Strong practical experience in electrical engineering on construction or utility projects, with the ability to interpret contract documents, review works in progress and support the delivery of high-quality infrastructure.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • A thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, construction regulations and safe systems of work, with the confidence to monitor contractor performance and escalate issues where required.

Technical Reporting and Record Keeping

  • The ability to produce clear, accurate and well-structured reports, maintain robust site records and communicate progress, risks and issues in a professional manner.

Stakeholder Communication and Teamwork

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within diverse multidisciplinary teams and build positive working relationships with contractors, clients and colleagues.

Problem Solving and Delivery Focus

  • A proactive and accountable approach, with sound judgement, attention to detail and the ability to identify issues, assess information and recommend practical solutions that support project delivery.

Qualifications and Training

Essential; A Level 8 degree in Electrical Engineering is required, together with at least seven years’(for RE roles) and 10 years’ (for SRE roles), relevant post-graduate experience in engineering, including site works supervision and monitoring of safe working practices.

Desirable; Knowledge of Public Works and FIDIC forms of contract would be beneficial, as would contractor design review experience and advanced MS Excel skills. Experience on water sector projects is desirable, and experience of pipeline or treatment plant work would be an advantage. You should hold a clean driving licence and current SafePass, Managing Safely in Construction and Manual Handling certification.

Working Environment

These are site-based roles across the East, South East, South West and North West regions of the Republic of Ireland. The position is primarily onsite, with expected attendance aligned to project and site requirements.
